Certain people launch long distance trebuchet attacks at 50% speed just to be annoying. This clutters up the attack screen and those attacks often stay shown for many months. I am suggesting that we either have the ability to "ignore" certain attacks to clear them from our screen, or restrict the ability for trebuchets to not be allowed to be sent on attacks.

I agree. There is no reason that trebuchets should be allowed to be used as attacks. That feature should be stopped. And so should the ....'s who use them that way.

Since I doubt anything will be done to change how the trebuchets work...I recommend that we go with Raven's suggestion about having the ability to ignore an incoming campaign so we don't have to see it traveling for months.

Although if you ask my honest opinion...I feel trebuchets should just be removed from the game completely, but that will never happen.

I agree. Its a pointless troop...

I also agree that hiding/ignore attack campaigns toward you (which effectively removes them from "other attack" list too). I know this might seem to be a good strategy to use trebs to mask an attack that will happen at a later date, but those trebs move too slow...

I agree, the Trebuchet should only be sent as AID to a city...as it is not a practical Attack unit

The use of Treb attacks is hurting other abilities in the game....when a person has over 100 treb attacks launched at them...then there is no point in the "Other Attacks" option being there...or for the Order Master...
So it really detracts from the game to have the ability to launch unlimited long range attacks.

The ability to ignore an incoming attack...that would be nice upgrade... (:s11:)

Not to discount the sentiments of those who have posted before me, but trebuchets were one of the more important pieces of siege equipment during the Middle Ages. That being said however, the number of trebuchets that an army can have should be limited as typically only a few were built for any siege. Trebuchets should not be allowed to travel as they were almost always built on site due to their massive size. If a game mechanism could be made to allow an army to assembly a couple a of trebuchets after arrival, I think that would satisfy the objections of the long travel times. Trebuchets could continue to built at a player's City/Fort, but immobile for defensive purposes.

The answer is simple:

Remove their ability to travel, implement an artifact that when used gives you a trebuchet in the tactics screen where it's used.

While eliminating trebs from being launched on a half year attack would be nice....it doesn't stop people from launching hundreds of catapults at a player on slow speed...

the solution would be to allow players to ignore attacks of their choosing... maybe a little ( - ) TAB next to an attack...with a message that pops up..." are you sure you wish to cancel this incoming attack?"

There are some very childish players in this game. Days after we reach an agreement never to send spam attacks, I get 50+ more trebuchet and slow speed attacks on me. This is their way to "punish" us for demoing a Gas110 fortress. Very stupid, and this ignore feature needs to be implemented ASAP.

I agree with many comments here, best summarized by Crimson...

The best idea! Trebs are a pointless weapon in this game... scrap them.

Two more great ideas. At the very least, disallow trebs from being launched on attack campaigns and implement a "hide/ignore incoming attacks" function.

As far as the suggestion to travel and assemble a treb at the sight of an attack... these machines are not going to make one bit of difference vs. the massive armies on all servers by now. Which brings us back to "scrap them". ))

To expand on what Mammal said, how about instead of a tab to click to ignore the attack, make a expandable/collapsible list which is hidden by default (just like the "other attacks" list), which lists attacks going to and from you that are in excess of X hours or days where X is determined by that player in their settings. In addition, any attacks that are on that list will be excluded from the "other attacks". Default X value should be 7 days. Also, I can see this as an silver or gold account feature since it does aid the player in reduced clutterness (just like with the hide campaign function). Name the list, "Distant attacks".

I agree with vonGraudenz about the historical importance of trebuchets during the Middle Ages. I think limiting them, would be an idea. Something like trebuchets cannot travel more than 100 hours on attack mode, it would be unlimited like right now for aid. Artifacts or a larger army could increase the time a trebuchet can travel. Also I agree with the idea to hide incoming attacks.

SD is continuing their childish tactics of spam with tons of trebuchet attacks. It is a shame that when they lose (which is often), they do this to try and feel good about themselves.

This has got to stop. We get messages from support that sending massive trebuchet attacks, lasting a year, are part the game's tactical gameplay. Its nonsense. We have players now thinking about leaving the game, because every time they send a scout to a SD camp or city, they get at least 50 trebuchets sent against them. The game is thus no longer any fun to play. I urge the developers to do something about this problem. Allow us to ignore the attacks, or simply disallow the option to use trebuchets for attacks.

Even if that is correct, it's much too powerful... Players can simply negate the gold account's ability to see incoming attacks on vassals and order members for a year (if that is the correct time frame)...
