Oops!
The wanderers (is an analogy) are your free city population...
they are converted to mercenary points by the fountain...
at a rate of...
1.5 wandering peasants in your village...
will accumulate 1 additional mercenary point.
I am uncertain exactly how that is possible so it must be computer magic....

population may not be find the right word for what farms produce
actually the farms produce food, and for every troop you need a certain amount of food (appearantly the guys on the knights are real fat)
and because you need people to operate buildings, siege troops, and the guy who actually fights
it's called population

to create a knight u need to provide the horses food, u need to a pay a blacksmith to creat armor and weapons, need to pay the actualy horsemen ect so needs multiple people thats y they are expensive

doesn;t work that way
f.e.
lvl 1 takes
res res res res res
+ 450 population + 120gold
so for lvl 1 you'll get 300 merc points (compare it to a glory, but less efficient)
